A celebration of young entrepreneurs was held on August 26th, 2023 at Lomita Park to honor the 50 youth and their families who participated in the third annual Lemonade Day Lomita and submitted their business results for the 3rd Annual Lemmy Awards. 

Earlier in July, kids from first through sixth grade operated their very own lemonade stand businesses at locations throughout the city of Lomita. After preparing their business plans, attending Lemon University classes and pitching for microloans from South Bay Credit Union, these ambitious entrepreneurs made the commitment to start and run a lemonade stand for a real-life entrepreneurial experience.

All of this year’s young entrepreneurs worked hard to reach their financial goals and follow the guiding principles of the program to save, spend, and share money by giving back to their community. Across the 31 stands, reported revenue totals reached $31,182 with $11,007 total put into savings, and nearly $7,600 given back to the youth entrepreneurs’ chosen nonprofits and charities this year.

Successes and achievements were recognized and celebrated with a fun day and pizza party at Lomita park where the 2023 Lemmy Award winners were honored and all Lemonade Day Lomita participants received certificates from the City of Lomita and elected officials.
